Aseptic Valves

One idea,
many solutions

Rattiinox CAD (Clean & Aseptic Design) valves were created by experienced pharmaceutical process and operations engineers. These engineers were convinced that some non‐productive but extremely necessary processes (especially CIP & SIP) in our industry have potential for improvement which can result in substantial overall productivity increases for pharmaceutical facilities.

Substantial time and energy (carbon footprint) reduction as well as water savings can be achieved using CAD valves. They offer fast and robust CIP thanks to their asymptotic-free seal design and also enable accelerated SIP using pulsating vacuum/high temperature steam due to their extremely thermally stable PTFE diaphragms

Vessels, bioreactors, fermenters, and full process plants can be developed without dead legs (L/D=0, not just L/d<2). The machined-from-solid PTFE diaphragms last many years of aggressive CIP and high-temperature SIP cycles with minimized planned maintenance and no un‐planned maintenance, eliminating cleaning issues and contamination risks.

Clean by design

CAD valves have been engineered with a single body seal and without any asymptotic seal (unlike most competitor valves). Thanks to this, engineers can achieve easier cleaning validations and quick, robust CIP cleaning processes, free from any manual cleaning operations (COP).

Accelerated SIP/DIP cycles

Thanks to the machined-from-solid PTFE diaphragms, with no EPDM backing layer, CAD valves do not suffer blistering, because steam cannot permeate our solid PTFE and vacuum does not deform our material, even when extremely hot. This makes pulsating vacuum/steam air‐purge/vacuum‐evaporation of SIP condensate possible for accelerated SIP heat-up, as used in autoclaves, and permits vacuum-evaporation of condensate for accelerated DIP – Dry in Place.

Flow-through valves: Valve body becomes the pipe

The round CAD valve chamber allows additional connections without any extra piping or components. Engineers can add satellite valves directly on the valve body. This eliminates many components such as tee pieces or additional fittings. Entire system can become extremely compact with substantial impact on CIP cycle reduction, improved temperature distribution during SIP and reduced hold-up volume and skid footprint. CAD flow-through valves are also a dramatic improvement on ZDL valve because the whole diaphragm and related valve chamber is inside the piping.

Innovative design

Several other radial diaphragm valve designs exist, all of which offer much‐improved CIP cleanability compared with weir‐type valves, but many of these suffer from a poor (double) body sealing system or are based upon a bellows-style diaphragm, which is difficult to clean robustly in the open position. CAD valves are globally the first to combine impeccable cleanability with extreme leak-free long life, even with highly aggressive CIP, high-temperature SIP and multiple dis-assembly processes.
